Many people navigate without a mouse, including screen reader users and people with motor impairments. If a control cannot be reached and operated by keyboard, it does not exist for them, regardless of how it looks.
Tab through your homepage. Every interactive element should be reachable and visibly focused.
Never remove focus outlines without providing a compliant replacement.
