Rarely delete. Consolidate weak posts into a stronger one and redirect, or update them in place. Deleting removes accumulated links and signals permanently, while consolidation preserves them.
Delete outright only when content is wrong, embarrassing, or legally problematic.
Merging three thin posts into one substantial page usually beats all three.
Always redirect the old URL to the closest equivalent, never to the homepage.
