Landing pages vs service pages

Comparison

A service page is a permanent, navigable page that explains an offering and earns organic and AI visibility. A landing page is a temporary, single-goal page stripped of navigation and built for one traffic source and one action.

When the first option wins

Service pages win for anything you want found. They accumulate authority, support internal linking, and are the pages AI systems retrieve when a buyer asks what a company does.

When the second option wins

Landing pages win for paid campaigns, specific offers, and any situation where a second link is a distraction rather than a service.

Verdict

Do not build landing pages for organic traffic and do not send paid traffic to service pages. The first underperforms in search; the second leaks attention at the moment you paid for it.
